UPDATE: Check out the actual promo video. Click here
I just interviewed Jackie Hollywood (see her in the picture above), an aspiring tv show host, model and actress from the Bay Area, who was fortunate enough to be picked to be in a commercial/promo alongside with Green Day for their upcoming album 21st Century Breakdown (available May 15th, preorder now!). I got her impressions of the band, her experience in the shoot (and how she was required to be all muddy) and what it was like to eat lunch with Tre, Mike and Billie Joe.
Green Day Breakdown: So, what was the shoot all about?
Jackie Hollywood: A promo video/commercial or their new album
GDBD: How were your selected?
JH: First I got an email from my agent that said they wanted to send my picture to their client (Green Day’s people) and asked if I was going to be free all day Wednesday. I said yes, and got really excited but I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Then Tuesday morning, she emailed me and said “you’ve been selected and we’re still narrowing it down”. I almost cried!!!

GDBD: What did you think your role was going to be about?
JH: I thought it was like an extra role, and that there were gonna be 100 other girls doing what I’m doing, but she called me and when I asked, she was like “no its just you, another girl, and another guy. thats it”.
GDBD: What was your role in this shoot?
JH: I was covered in mud, running past the band. Kind of emulating Woodstock 94′.

GDBD: Did you interact with the band members?
JH: Yeah! They even sat next to me and talked to me at our lunch break.
GDBD: Are they friendly?
JH: Very friendy. I spoke with Mike and Tre the most, though. There were very down to earth, very cool guys.
Jackie with Tre Cool.
GDBD: How long have you been a Green Day fan for?
JH: I’ve like the band since Dookie, but I really started loving them after seeing them live in concert for their American Idiot tour here at the at&t park.
GDBD: What’s your favorite Green Day song?
JH: (long pause)…hard to say. Perhaps Basket Case. I also love Jesus of Suburbia, She’s a Rebel…the entire American Idiot album is great.
GDBD: What do you think of “Know your Enemy”?
JH: Its sooooo good. Very catchy. Love it. Everyone should download it.
GDBD: So, to finalize how was your experience with the band and the video shoot.
JH: My experience was amazing, almost surreal. I have a poster of them hanging in my room, it’s been there for like 4 years. So to actually meet them and talk to them felt like they came alive from that poster. I couldn’t have asked for a better day!
GDBD: Thanks for your time Jackie. Sounds like you had a great time.
